we are pinned to an evening
that's running out of road
as the the last ray of light heads into dark
if it's closure you're craving
some message in the code
to fill the empty space in with your mark
yeah, l give it all up for you
standing on the edge of something greater than us all
down into the heart of universes we fall
falling with the fires trailing glory on their way
know that we are heading for tomorrow today
anyway lover what you think I'm gonna do?
when it's all over I give it all up for you
giving up believing
giving up completely
for you ... ooh
knowing that the world will keep on turning - going on
& we let the night forever burn when we're gone
burning with the stars that wander lonely on their way
know that life is heading here tomorrow today
anyway lover what you think I'm gonna do?
when it's all over I give it all up for you
giving up believing
giving up completely
for you ... ooh
yeah, I give it all up for you
& the sun beats down on skin & ground & anything between
and the moon looks down on broken vows
fills the space between us with that cold blue shine
and I can’t remember how our love felt at the start
no I can't remember
anyway lover what you think I'm gonna do?
when it's all over I give it all up for you
giving up believing
giving up completely
for you ... ooh

2021-08-31 | New single ANNIVERSARY
New single ANNIVERSARY is out now!!!
“‘ANNIVERSARY’ is a special song for us. Obviously we were conscious of our own impending 40th anniversary of making music together, but we wanted the song’s meaning to be inclusive in the broadest possible way.
After playing and working together for so long, we very much appreciate what ‘being together’ and ’staying together’ can really mean, it’s not something we would have thought song worthy 40 years ago but we do today! It was also
fun to build a track with hints of previous Duran hits, they’re like Easter eggs, for the fans to find.” - John Taylor

2021-08-05 | New track MORE JOY!
The band have just shared CHAI collab "More Joy!," an effervescent electro-disco banger that keyboardist Nick Rhodes says was born out of a jam between the band, Coxon and Alkan. "It was such an unusual piece we weren’t quite sure if it would fit in at first. It reminded me of one of those retro Japanese video games, which I always found quite uplifting. We came up with the chant 'more joy' early on, and that became the key to the rest of the track," Nick says. "Simon had the inspired idea to ask CHAI if they would possibly collaborate with us. To our joy they agreed, and the result most certainly brought an incredible new energy to the song. They are so special!!
CHAI return the compliment, saying, "We are full of joy! When Duran Duran asked us to join their new song, we listened to it and thought ‘this is lively, rock, cool and fun’, and we danced! We added our voices to their rock sound, making it even more ‘MORE JOY’! Because we are MORE JOY. Thank you Duran Duran!”

The band personally selected the song for release following the failure of its predecessor, "Careless Memories", which had been chosen by their record company, EMI.
Its popularity provided a major boost to sales of the band's eponymous debut album, Duran Duran, which had been released a month earlier.
The extended night version of "Girls on Film", similar to "Planet Earth" wasn't a remix, but a completely new arrangement of the song.

2021-05-20 | A new music video
Duran Duran have often embraced new technology when making their music.
They were one of the first bands to truly capitalise on the new frontier of MTV in the 1980s, producing high-end production videos to their singles which propelled them to global stardom.
And in 1997, they were the first band to sell their single digitally, releasing 'Electric Barbarella' from Abbey Road Studios using Liquid Audio.
Now, in another technological first, Duran Duran have used Artificial Intelligence to create a music video to accompany their latest single 'INVISIBLE'.
"When we arrived on the scene, the video age was beginning and we grasped it and it was a very big part of what made Duran Duran global at the time," singer Simon Le Bon told ITV News Arts Editor Nina Nannar. "I think we've always
viewed technology as something that we can use that can really help us. We're not intimidated by it," he added.
Bandmate Nick Rhodes added: "I think it's super exciting technology and we're sort of the space race generation. "So growing up through that period where a man landed on the moon, anything that was new and technologically
advanced was appealing. "And if you can use it to enhance your toolkit for what you're doing, I think that's fantastic."
The band teamed up with a company called Nested Minds.
They're group of individuals who studied under Neuroscientist Karl Friston, who created 'Huxley' - a creative AI that exists in the cloud. Providing the lyrics, pictures, music and other information about the band, the
video was created entirely by Huxley and was "untouched by human hands". Powered by technology that is uniquely based on the structures of the brain, modelling human intelligence and emotional engagement, Huxley created
the video using random images it 'dreamed' up.
Le Bon added: "They like to say it dreamt it, it dreamt the video completely without any other sort of editing or guidance from his handlers."
Drummer Roger Taylor said: "They just took those images of us all singing and put them into the program. "And it came out with these incredible kind of ghostly images which kind of blew me away."

2021-05-19 | Duran Duran sign to BMG
Duran Duran have signed to BMG for their new album, as well as their post-1997 back catalogue.
“BMG has been built on working with iconic artists and so we are truly honoured to partner with Duran Duran on their outstanding new album Future Past,” Alistair Norbury, BMG UK president, repertoire & marketing,
told Music Week. “After selling 100 million albums, there is still an ever-present hunger and vitality emanating from the band as evidenced in the stunning new music and pioneering visuals. After 40 years this is a
band as relevant as in 1981.”
Duran Duran’s John Taylor added: “We are very happy to be in partnership with the BMG label group internationally. We feel this is a great fit for us and look forward to doing fantastic things together.”
Wendy Laister, of Magus Entertainment, said: “We have known members of the BMG senior management team for a number of years, and long felt that this would be a great home for the band. With this new deal, we have been able to
bring together Duran Duran’s forthcoming studio album, and a number of key titles from their back catalogue – some of which are now available for the first time outside North America.
“It’s a good feeling to have a very experienced global team behind you who really understand not only the DNA of the band, but also their goals for this new record. We launch the campaign today, around the world,
and could not be more excited.”
“Sonic architecture has always been incredibly important to Duran Duran,” said Nick Rhodes. “I think, with Invisible, we really have managed to carve the sculpture the way we wanted it. Sonically, it's a very unusual piece
of music. I think when you merge all the instruments together, it creates an overall sound that perhaps you haven't heard before.”
Duran Duran have worked with 360 Reality Audio, an immersive music experience using Sony’s spatial sound technologies. The first release from this collaboration will be their new single Invisible, followed by 360 mixes
of their upcoming album and their back catalogue. 360 Reality Audio is on supported streaming services Amazon Music HD, Tidal HiFi, and Deezer HiFi.
The official video for Invisible also features a simulated 360 Reality Audio Experience where fans can immerse themselves in the music with any pair of headphones.
“As a band we’ve always looked to new technology for a way to enhance our sound,” said Nick Rhodes. “The Sony 360 system brings a new and different dimension to the tracks.”
Simon Le Bon said: “When we first went into the studio in late 2018, I was trying to persuade the guys that all we needed to do was write two or three tracks for an EP. Four days later, with the nucleus of 25 plus strong
songs in the can, that all deserved development, I realised we’d be in it for the long haul, but that was before Covid. (Info: musicweek.com)
2021-05-19 | Daisuke Yokota
The band members collaborated with Japanese artist Daisuke Yokota on both the front cover of the single and their forthcoming album. Nick Rhodes first met Yokota in 2019 when he was in Japan making a documentary
on post-war photography.
Daisuke Yokota was born in Saitama, Japan, 1983. Graduated from the “Nippon photography institute” in 2003. In his article for the Guardian, Sean O’Hagan writes, that “Yakota is one of the most talked-about young Japanese photographers with a meticulous
approach to photographic experimentation, combined at times with visceral performances” and his willingness “to continuously test the limits of photography”.
With his strongly contrasted black-and-white photography, Yokota seems to, at first glance, be working in the Japanese photography tradition. However a close examination of his work reveals an individual approach in
which the elements of process and intervention play an important role. He uses a combination of digital photography and traditional film to shoot and re-shoot images, which he then manipulates further using other
techniques such as photocopying and Photoshop.
He has set up an improvised darkroom in his apartment where he can freely experiment with analogue techniques and chemical processes, where chance is also allowed to leave its traces on the final image. Yokota adds
layer upon layer to his work, with each layer offering new potential for the next image, leading to alienated, mysterious and poetic representations of a different sort of world.
2021-05-18 | Huxley
The video for the band’s new single, ‘INVISIBLE’, from their forthcoming album, ‘FUTURE PAST’, was created by an Artificial Intelligence called Huxley, a unique dreamer whose ‘mind’ has been modeled after the cognitive and
emotional processes of humans. It is the very first collaboration of its kind, between artists in
different planes of existence. (Info: DD Youtube)

Second single of Duran Duran "Careless Memories" is 40 years old today. B-side of this single was song "Khanada". Happy #duraniversary :-)
New Duran Duran single "Invisible" in May and new album in October! Yay, FINALLY some good news. Finally they care to inform the fans.
Nick was interviewed by Red Ronnie and various (mostly Italian) fans for over two hours on Facebook live.
Big news: lead song (can we call it a 'single'?) called "Invisible" to be released in May! This fits with the teased release schedule from Katy last week ("between Roger and John's birthdays").
Asked about an Anthology release: We want to do an anthology album, but i don't know if it will be for the 40th [anniversary]. We have so much stuff. [He said he'd been going through the archives and found lots of stuff].
[For example] we have retrieved the original drives from Astronaut - there's enough for a a whole other album... It's a massive task but workable. I don't want to put out scraps - I want to put out gems.

Rhodes and Bevan first started working together during 2018, instantly conceiving an exquisite, and very visual musical language. As artists, separated by the oceans, Wendy in Los Angeles and Nick in London, these works
were made as a direct response to the sadness and turbulence of the past year

Duran Duran have dropped a futuristic new video for their recent cover of David Bowie’s “Five Years.”
Directed Gavin Elder, the video features the band accompanied by Bowie’s longtime pianist Mike Garson surrounded by swirling colors as they tear through the track. Elder shot each band member
individually across Los Angeles and London, enlisting artist Teek Mach to virtually bring it all together.
The band released the cover earlier this month as part of Just For One Day, Garson’s Bowie tribute that took place on what would have been the late legend’s 74th birthday. “David Bowie’s apocalyptic vision in the song
‘Five Years’ was written almost half a century ago yet it seems ever more poignant today,” keyboardist Nick Rhodes said. “Although it is five years since David left Planet Earth, his vast catalog of songs remain as
significant and inspirational as they always have been. Mike Garson’s heartfelt celebration show was a testament to the breadth of influence that David had on other musicians. It was also a display of the deep
affection and gratitude for what he gave to us all.” (Info: rollingstone.com)
2021-01-20 | Lifetime Achievement Awards - Nick Rhodes
Few synth players have made a greater impact on British music than Nick Rhodes. As co-founder of new wave legends and national treasures
Duran Duran, his classic lines powered early-’80s mega-hits like Rio, Girls On Film and Hungry Like The Wolf, while his trusty Roland
Jupiter-4 and Jupiter-8 rode shotgun as the band took on the stadium circuit.
Since then, Nick’s visionary approach to sound has helped Duran Duran to move with the times. Their acclaimed 14th studio album Paper
Gods featured some of his most ambitious synth parts to date, while the associated world tour saw him recreate them using the crossover
analogue/digital sound engines of the Roland JD-XA. Wherever synth technology goes next, expect Nick Rhodes to be on the front line.
Past recipients of the Roland Lifetime Achievement Award include: Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Thomas Dolby, Jean-Michel Jarre, Omar
Hakim, and Phuture's DJ Pierre & Spanky. (Info: roland.com)
2021-01-09 | Five Years
Yesterday Duran Duran released a cover of Bowie’s 1972 song “Five Years.” They performed it live during the global streaming concert, “A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day!”
“When we got the Ziggy Stardust LP and put the needle in the groove, our first taste of its perfection was the song ‘Five Years,'” lead singer Simon Le Bon tells PEOPLE. “I can’t
begin to explain how honored I feel for Duran Duran to be given the opportunity to perform this icon, and to place our name alongside Bowie’s for this commemoration of his music.”
