2019-11-14 | 50th anniversary of Centrepoint

British music icons Duran Duran and global superstar Rita Ora are set to perform at a special Gala to mark the 50th anniversary of Centrepoint, the UK’s leading charity for homeless young people.
The Gala will take place at London’s historic performing arts venue, Roundhouse, on 13 November.
With the support of its patron HRH The Duke of Cambridge, Centrepoint – and its partner charities – works with over 15,000 young people a year through its range of housing, employment and health services.
On behalf of Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon said: “Over the last half a century the number of young people sleeping rough, out on the streets of our towns and cities all year round, has doubled. These are some of the most at risk individuals in the United Kingdom. This heartbreaking statistic demands our attention now. It is within our power to show our compassion, to exercise our care and to give them the knowledge that they have not been forgotten by the rest of us. We in Duran Duran are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Centrepoint on this special night celebrating the good and very necessary work they’ve undertaken for over 50 years to put an end to homelessness in the UK. It also serves to remind us all that there is much work to be done.” (Info: theatreweekly.com)

2019-09-26 | Andy Taylor official

From Andy: I first met Gary (Stringer) when he agreed to do Lead Vocal on my new album. Ive been very lucky in life, having previously worked with some of the best singers of their time. So my objective was clear in that I needed someone of a certain quality to do justice to the material both old & new, a real singer, with character & experience, someone who knew the right way to do this stuff & in their sleep. Then boom - Gary walks in & absolutely nailed it in one - Oh boy, the room lit up, WTF, it’s almost driven by a higher power & now here we are, a full blooded Rock n Roll Co-Op & all I can say is that I’m loving this, playing with real players & no backing tracks faking it, beautiful - so watch this space-ship... 2019-08-16 | Andy Taylor signs with Round Hill

Songwriter and former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has inked a worldwide publishing deal with Round Hill Music. Taylor sold over 100 million albums with Duran Duran, was a founding member of Duran spin-off The Power Station and has worked as co-writer, producer and guitarist with the likes of Rod Stewart, Thunder, The Almighty and Robert Palmer, as well as enjoying solo hits.
Recently-appointed Round Hill Carlin UK MD Robin Godfrey-Cass and Round Hill founder/CEO Josh Gruss signed the deal, with Godfrey-Cass commenting: “It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to work with a writer and musician of this calibre and with such a prolific body of work.”
“The decision to sign to Round Hill was a no-brainer,” said Taylor. “Both Josh and Robin have a great command of what proactive creative relationships are.”
Taylor’s manager, Seven Webster of 7pm Management added: “Andy is one of the most gifted and prolific talents I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with - his writing never sleeps. This year alone he’s co-written, recorded and produced two fantastic new album projects. Naturally we were keen to find him the best independent publishing partner.”
Taylor has a new solo album scheduled for release on BMG in May 2020. He appeared at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, guesting with Reef. (Info: musicweek.com)

2019-08-10 | DD Appreciation Day

“Nick was very much involved in our “space themed song” set list for our performance at the Kennedy Space Center, and he suggested we do this track. The original is such a good vocal, I didn’t want to do a “Simon Le Bon impersonation of Sting.” I started the song an octave below, but then I pulled my trousers up and went for it! I don’t think we will do this song again, but it was fun to perform.” – Simon, August 2019

2019-08-01 | Cuccurullo shares new album release!

Warren Cuccurullo is the man behind the old smash hit Ordinary World with Duran Duran. But he has done so much more…
From playing with Legendary Frank Zappa, song writer and guitarist with Duran Duran for many years and also the man behind the band Missing Persons and TV Mania and much more. Warren is no ordinary man. And he is still around to show his amazing guitar and song writing skills.
The new album Missing Person is out now and it starts of with a real banger as a first track featuring Swedish Sax player and singer Emma Essinger doing an amazing cover of an old new wave classic from Gary Numan in Me, I Disconnect From You.
This album is an amazing ride into the border worlds of fantastic musicianship and extremely catchy pop hooks. (Info: d3bris.de)

2019-07-19 | Duran Duran exclusive

Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon has told Classic Pop he was “overwhelmed” by the band’s special show marking the 50th anniversary of the first moon landings on Tuesday, when they played at Kennedy Space Centre with 300 drones swarming in formation as they performed.
The 90-minute show, in front of a VIP audience, including the surviving astronauts to have walked on the moon, opened with the drones flying as Duran Duran played in the rocket park at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
“It was an amazing show, it was overwhelming,” Simon told Classic Pop. “I wanted to be in the audience so badly for that show! Everything about it was incredible – the setting, having the full moon above us and then there was the extraordinary drone show programmed by the art collective Studio Drift.”
Simon admitted he was so caught up watching the drones’ “performance” that he was initially reluctant to play the show. Duran Duran had rearranged their song The Universe Alone from 2015’s Paper Gods album for the start of the concert. Simon said: “I didn’t have to step onstage until the music was already going, so for the first two minutes I was watching the drones from the side of the stage. I was so captivated that I didn’t really want to leave! But as soon as I’m onstage, I become very single-minded about making the connection with the audience. You know you’re part of something bigger than yourself, and you just concentrate on your part in this special show. All shows are like that, but this one particularly so.” ... full article on classicpopmag.com.

2019-06-18 | Duran Duran played in Russia

Duran Duran played in Russia last night as an exclusive performance for Louis Vuitton to celebrate the LV exhibit at the Strelka Institute in Moscow. Not a bad gig to have on the books, I must say.
Here’s the setlist, courtesy of Setlist.fm:

Come Undone
Notorious
Pressure Off
Ordinary World

The band, along with most of the usual cast of suspects gathered in Moscow, although Simon Willescroft is already back in London at this point, going straight from the plane to stage as he finishes up his run of “Woman to Woman” shows before heading to Iceland. However, Erin Stevenson didn’t join Duran Duran on stage this time.
Currently, Erin is performing with Janet Jackson during her Las Vegas residency! While I know she will be missed by DD fans, it’s a fabulous opportunity for her! I mean, it’s Janet. Can’t really get bigger than that, and good on Erin for landing the gig!
So that leaves us wondering who is sharing the stage with Anna! We didn’t have to look very hard, as Anna spread the news herself via Instagram and Facebook.

2019-04-27 | Duran Duran Returns to Iceland

Duran Duran will play a concert in Iceland in late June, RÚV reports. This will be the iconic band’s second time visiting Iceland—they last visited the country fourteen years ago, in 2005.
Known for such classic pop songs as “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Rio,” “Notorious,” and “A View to a Kill,” Duran Duran’s tenure has spanned four decades, during which time they’ve sold over 100 million records, won two Grammys, two Brit awards, and been awarded seven Lifetime Achievement Awards.
“If the show Duran Duran played in Iceland in 2005 is anything to go by, our show on June the 25th at Laugardalshöll is set to be a magnificent celebration – a blowout!” singer Simon Le Bon was quoted as saying in the press release on the band’s website. “I look forward to staying up all night like I did last time.”

2019-02-27 | As The Lights Go Down 2LP

Remastered double coloured three-sided LP live recording from the Oakland Coliseum in April 1984 – 35 years to the day of release
Limited edition of 5,500 for Record Store Day

On 12, 13 and 15 April, 1984 – 35 years ago to the day of Record Store Day 2019 (13 April) – as part of a hugely successful US tour, iconic British rock band, Duran Duran played three incredible shows to over 150k people at the Oakland Coliseum. These dates have gone down in the band’s history as some of their greatest shows ever. The concerts were filmed for TV specials that aired around the globe, but no official products were ever released and, until now, all that’s been available were unofficial bootlegs, which have circulated for years. For the first time ever, tracks from these extraordinary live shows will be officially available in the form of a limited edition (5,500) double vinyl LP. John Taylor expressed his enthusiasm for this special Record Store day release, saying “Our friends at Warner Music came up with this idea and I can tell you we are all quite excited about it! It’s a beautiful package and the vinyl mastered version is really the bomb!”
Nick Rhodes adds, “I rarely look back over my shoulder but listening to the mastered version of this album, it motivated us to recently play the song The Seventh Stranger for the first time since 1984. Things only got stranger because when we rehearsed it sounded the same as when we wrote it and when we last performed it… I think this record captures the spirit of who Duran Duran were then and still reflects who we are now.” The 11 song set features newly remastered live tracks. Disc one is double-sided and in blue, and disc two (in pink) is single-sided with the flip side etched with the album’s artwork. It is all housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring photography by the legendary rock photographer Denis O’Regan.
Duran Duran, ‘As The Lights Go Down’, is available from 13 April 2019 (Record Store Day) in records stores across the country.

2019-02-20 | Duran Duran skipped a lot of hits

Twice on Tuesday at the new Fillmore at Harrah’s New Orleans, Duran Duran vocalist Simon LeBon remarked on how the show seemed to be flying by. “This is going quickly,” he said near the end of the regular set. “Somebody slow it down.” Minutes later, at the encore’s outset, he repeated, “It’s going really quickly, isn’t it? We’ll try stretching it out.” Here’s a suggestion: Play more songs. During 80 minutes onstage for the first of Duran Duran’s two nights at the Fillmore, LeBon and company showcased a scant 15 songs. The glaring omissions included “Save A Prayer,” “The Reflex,” “New Moon On Monday,” “Is There Something I Should Know,” “Planet Earth” and “Union of the Snake.” If their maximum was 15 songs, they might have substituted any of those six classics for one of the lesser numbers they did play – say, “Pressure Off,” “Tempted” or “Friends of Mine” – and few fans would have complained... full article on theadvocate.com.

2019-02-17 | Beach day in the Cayman Islands

Simon Le Bon, 60, sports nothing but a TINY pair of swimming trunks as he emerges from the sea during solo beach day in the Cayman Islands.
The ladies in his life - his wife and daughters - have been hitting the Fashion Week circuit in Europe over the last few days. But Duran Duran front-man Simon Le Bon was swanning around on a beach on Grand Cayman - the largest Cayman Island - over the weekend. The singer was seen having his own Daniel Craig moment on Saturday, as he frolicked on the beach, emerging from the sea in just a pair of skimpy black trunks. The 60-year-old was taking a day to relax ahead of his gig at the Kaboo music festival that evening. The father-of-three - who turned 60 in October - continues to delight Duran Duran fans, after the group shot to fame in the 1980s. Global interest in their music is still rife, with the group's current gig seeing them join the likes of Salt-N-Pepa, Jason Derulo, Blondie and Sean Paul. Simon - who has been married to supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, 52, since December 1985 - and his band played hits such as Hungry Like The Wolf, Girls On Film, Reflex, Electric Barbarella, Ordinary World and Come Undone. The group played the Digicel Ironshore stage, finishing up the festival as the finale act of the night. Clad in a white suit with a black Wild Boy’s T-shirt underneath, the singer spoke about the festival in between the tracks, in a set that lasted 'til midnight. They capped the set off with an encore of A View To Kill and Rio Singer Shaggy also played on the same stage earlier in the day, telling the crowds, 'You must not get your hand caught in the cookie jar; you should not be like Tiger Woods,' in a seemingly random word of advice.
